About Us

The beginning of fitness in Farmville

We began this journey several years ago in a basement.  Concrete walls, concrete floors, little equipment, big dreams.  Friends gathered to become healthy and fit together.  The journey hasn’t been easy, but it has been rewarding- pounds and inches lost, burpees, double unders, and pull ups conquered.

It is through our failures and victories that we have become a family, the CrossFit family.  We are moms and dads, brothers, sister, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and outlaws.  We are young, we are middle-age, and we are seasoned.  We laugh together, cry together, and cheer each other on.

What does 1st Due mean?

Your “1st Due” is a fire service reference. In all neighborhoods that have a local fire station, the firefighters in that station  are responsible for that community, everything from fire prevention methods and medical calls to responding to your fire emergencies. In addition to that they look for potential problems in the area that could be hazardous for the citizens. This area is called “1st Due” because when you dial 911 you will see your fire company due there first. It is like a community that takes care of itself, by taking care of others.

CrossFit 1st Due is deeply rooted in those same fundamental qualities. We feel you are a part of our community and we are a part of yours. We will accept you into our Box like family, we will motivate each other, we will seek fitness excellence and we will celebrate our victories.

What is Crossfit?

Simply put, CrossFit is a general preparedness program that uses functional movements, which are constantly varied and performed at high intensity. The workouts of the day (WOD’s) are adjusted to your fitness level and will make you stronger, faster, and more flexible. CrossFit can be incorporated into any lifestyle, and we guarantee it will change your current idea of what it means to be “fit”.

You will never be alone. Your CrossFit family will be with you to push you through the hardest workouts and celebrate your victories. We celebrate every personal record whether it is a 400lb dead lift or your first unassisted pull up, what matters to us is that you’re achieving your personal best.
